As you may have noticed, my website is in Dutch but I speak and give therapy in different languages and work with locals as well as with expats. I speak both English and Dutch.

When life becomes a complex journey

Sometimes it feels like it is too much all of a sudden and life can become a complex journey with many challenges. Psychological problems can have a huge impact on our lives, especially if you notice that you are not able to solve them on your own. 
How difficult your problem or situation might seem, there is a way out. 
You can tell me about your complaints or questions: nothing is strange, vague or unimaginable. I'll help you identify pitfalls in your way of thinking and in your behaviour and will teach you how to challenge them.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy assumes that it is not the events themselves that give a person a certain negative feeling and let them behave in a certain way, but the coloured glasses through which people look at things. Learning how to challenge your thoughts will help you to have a more objective look at your own feelings and perceptions.
Cognitive behavioural therapy is one of the most common forms of treatment in the Netherlands. It is a brief structured therapy, present and future oriented. The story of the client is important. Together with the therapist you are going to discover how the negative and irrational pattern of thoughts have been created in the past.

Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that helps you to understand the origin of behavioural patterns and to change them. It is an analysis of the impact that experiences from your childhood have on your present daily life. During therapy you learn to challenge yourself, take better care of yourself and to feel what you really need in life. In this way not only your behaviour will change, but also your thoughts and feelings.

Voice Dialogue (VD)

Voice Dialogue is a specific method developed to explore the world of the Selves – also known as sub-personalities. This method requires two people: a facilitator and the subject being facilitated. The job of the facilitator is to help the subject become aware of, and to experience, the various Selves that run our lives and to learn how to use them in a conscious way through the development of an Aware Ego Process.
Each of us "contains multitudes". We are made up of many selves, identifying with some and rejecting others. This over-identification with some selves and the loss of wholeness that comes from the rejection of others, can create imbalances and blind spots. This work is about learning to embrace all the selves.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (Shapiro, 1989). Shapiro’s (2001) Adaptive Information Processing model posits that EMDR facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced. During EMDR therapy the client attends to emotionally disturbing material in brief sequential doses while simultaneously focusing on an external stimulus.

About NAME

As a psychologist, I have an eclectic approach: I use different techniques or methodologies, always tailored to suit the individual and their needs. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Voice Dialogue techniques and EMDR in case of trauma treatment. I speak fluently Dutch and English and work with locals as well as with expats.

Rates and refunds

  • Phone intake: free
  • Session of 60 minutes: € 105
  • Internet-session (Skype): € 90
  • Chat-session: 30 min, € 45
  • Voice Dialogue session: 60 min, € 105
  • EMDR (trauma therapy): 2 hours, € 180
  • COMET training: € 105 per session
  • Couple counselling or sessions for two people: 1,5 hour, € 145  
At the end of each session you can pay cash (or make a money transfer) and you will receive a receipt for costs to be declared to your Health Insurance. 
In The Netherlands Healthcare Insurance is based on two packages: Basic and Complementary. Different Insurance companies have different refund policies. Some might offer a full refund or a maximum number of sessions. Unfortunately in some cases no refunds are granted.
I am registered with NIP (Dutch Psychologists Association) and with NFG (Dutch  Healthcare Federation). Follow the link below to find a list of Dutch Insurances I work with. I recommend you to enquire with your Healthcare Company about the different possibilities.
